EM2107D "Bankrupt America or Short-Change the Patient? An Ethical Decision-Making Framework For Selecting the “Right” Medication" (IM GR-071621)
Medication costs in the United States have become increasingly burdensome for patients, providers and society over the past several years. This presentation seeks to provide a framework for medical providers and administrators to consider drug cost as part of an ethical decision-making process for medication selection. Basic ethical principles as well as underlying frameworks for “fair” distribution of resources will be discussed, acknowledging the values we hold as medical providers.
