EM2006D COVID-19 Vaccines: Prospects and Potential (IM-GR061220)

The goal of this presentation is to provide an up-to-date summary of the progress made with regards to vaccines for COVID-19. The presentation will cover a broad range of themes related to immunological markers of recovery after SARS-CoV2, different vaccine designs, and specific challenges of conducting vaccine efficacy trials during a pandemic.

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Understand important antigenic targets of adaptive immune responses to SARS-CoV-2.
  • Describe the different vaccine candidates in development for SARS-CoV-2.
  • Understand the limitations of conducting efficacy trials in the setting of a pandemic.
