Hereditary Cancer Syndromes: From Identifying Patients at Risk to Navigating Patients to Management (EM1908A)

This course is a one hour video-based education opportunity to educate physicians on how to identify individuals at risk for more common and rarer hereditary cancer syndromes, how patients should be managed as there have been recent changes to National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines for many specific genes, and the impact of a genetic patient navigator on high-risk patient care. the practice standard used will be NCCN guidelines, but as guidelines are changing rapidly, this event would provide a succinct review to keep learners abreast of new information. A hereditary cancer predisposition affects 10% of the population, and so early identification and patient follow-through on management is necessary to prevent cancer in these individuals and their families. Physician knowledge and competency will be evaluated with a pre- and post-test assessment.
