Erek Latzka, MD, RMSK

Erek Latzka, MD, RMSK, is a sports medicine physiatrist, and current assistant clinical professor at Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed medical school at Tufts in Boston, PM&R residency at University of Washington in Seattle, and an ACGME Sports Medicine Fellowship at Swedish Medical Center, where he developed his skills in diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound guided procedures, and orthobiologics. He spent 5 years as an attending physician at UW, directing the diagnostic ultrasound curriculum for their sports fellowship programs, and received the department’s teacher of the year award in 2022. In 2023, he returned home to Massachusetts with his family, joining another sports physiatrist Dr. Walter Sussman at Boston Sports & Biologics. There they offer diagnostic MSK ultrasound, orthobiologics including PRP, MFAT, and BMAC, and advanced USG procedures including the thread and sonex carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, Tenex, and the novel thread plantaris release. Dr. Latzka has published extensively and presented both nationally and internationally on diagnostic ultrasound of the upper extremity, treatment of adhesive capsulitis, and advanced ultrasound guided surgical techniques. He has served on the AAPMR Biologics Curriculum Committee, AAPMR STEP Ultrasound faculty, and AAPMR Technical Expert Panel on Biologic Management of Osteoarthritis of the Knee. Recently, he was honored by AAPMR as a 2025 "Innovator & Influencer" for his leadership in advancing minimally invasive ultrasound guided treatments.
