About Me
I am a native Texan; born in Abilene and raised in El Paso. I received my Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, my medical degree from Texas Tech University School of Medicine, and completed my residency in general surgery at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
I have been in practice in Arlington and Mansfield since 2007, where I specialize in general surgery with a specific interest in cancers and disorders of the breast. It is imperative to me that the women of Arlington, Mansfield and surrounding areas have access to the most up-to-date, high-quality and comprehensive breast care.
I offer individualized diagnostic and surgical plans and routinely perform ultrasound-guided cyst aspirations and biopsies in office. I also perform breast conservation surgery (lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy), skin-sparing mastectomy, areola-sparing mastectomy, and nipple-sparing mastectomy. Additionally, I am able to place partial breast irradiation catheters in the office if the patient desires this type of treatment modality and it is deemed appropriate by the patient’s radiation oncologist.
I work closely with highly experienced, board-certified plastic surgeons who perform reconstructive surgeries, such as oncoplastic breast reduction, implant reconstruction, and DIEP flap reconstruction. I also have strong relationships with oncologists and radiation oncologists in the area who offer the most up-to-date treatment options. In addition, my office offers genetic testing and referrals to genetic counseling, as appropriate, as well as ongoing close monitoring for lymphedema utilizing the L-Dex extracellular fluid measuring device. With these services, I am able to participate in the care of the patient from the point of diagnosis through their survivorship.
My staff and I know that the care of breast cancer patients involves more than just a high skill level and medical knowledge, it involves compassion and the care of the whole person, which often times includes the family and friends. The reward is in the journey with my patients through treatment and beyond.
