Mahdi Awwad, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Dr. Awwad earned his medical degree at St. Matthew’s University School of Medicine. He performed a residency in family medicine at MetroHealth Medical Center, where he received a resident of the year award, and then completed a fellowship in rural maternal child health at West Virginia University–Eastern Division.
Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, he joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2016.
Dr. Awwad is a member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He has published several academic articles.
