Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the challenges of teaching novice learners to get to the “next step” of expertise.
  2. Explain how evidence-based medicine teaching and clinical guidelines can be misused by novice learners.
  3. Describe common cognitive errors made by trainees.
  4. Describe ways we might begin to teach trainees about thinking to avoid these errors and develop expertise.
