Family Medicine Grand Rounds
Family Medicine Grand Rounds provides an updated scientific knowledge foundation which will enhance diagnosis and treatment in the care of Family Medicine patients. This activity consists of a lecture accompanied by slides and a questions and answer session.
The UTSW Family Medicine department oversees many community clinics, and in order to expand the reach of our program to the community, Family Medicine Grand Rounds was established with the main goal of educating residents, faculty and community physicians about the latest developments in primary care – Family Medicine. The FM Grand Rounds provide an updated scientific knowledge foundation which will enhance diagnosis and treatment in the care of our patients. This activity provides an opportunity to review and present what is relevant to primary care about up to date information applicable to day-to-day practice. High-yield topics in Family Medicine have been selected to allow for discussion and exposure. Expert panelists are invited to help discuss the most evidence-based patient management and lead discussion following the resident lecture.

- Utilize evidence-based resources to make clinical decisions, identify risks and benefits of different preventative and treatment/management options.
- Discuss and present what is relevant to primary care.
- Apply the latest and evidence based trends to day-to-day practice in Family Medicine
- Apply discussed skills to patient interactions in differing areas of family medicine
Accreditation Statement
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The AAFP has reviewed UT Southwestern Family Medicine Grand Rounds, and deemed it acceptable for AAFP credit. Term of approval is from 10/22/2019 to 04/21/2021. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
