Dr. Lynne Kirk is Professor-Emeritus of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern.  From 2019 through August 2024, she served as the first Chief Accreditation Officer for the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  Prior to joining the ACGME in 2019, Dr. Kirk was a UT Southwestern faculty member in General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for over 30 years. At UT Southwestern Dr. Kirk has served as Head of Pritchard College, Associate Dean for Medical Education and Graduate Medical Education, Director of the Office of Medical Education, Interim Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine, and Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency program.

Her research has focused on medical professionalism, faculty development, clinical guidelines, geriatrics, and medical education. She is president-emeritus of the American College of Physicians and president-elect of the Board of Directors of Alpha Omega Alpha.  Dr. Kirk has received many recognitions including election to Mastership in the American College of Physicians and fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians.

As the ACGME’s Chief Accreditation Officer, Dr. Kirk led the ACGME’s specialty and subspecialty Review and Recognition Committee activities and managed the development and dissemination of national accreditation standards for residency programs, as well as oversight and continuous quality improvement of the accreditation process.
