Andrew Blauvelt, M.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Blauvelt is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is Owner of Blauvelt Consulting, LLC. He received his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering at Purdue University, his medical degree at Michigan State University, and a healthcare MBA at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). Dr. Blauvelt trained in dermatology at the University of Miami and in cellular immunology under the direction of Dr. Steve Katz at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Earlier in his career, he held senior staff positions at the NIH (Senior Investigator), OHSU (Professor), and the Portland VA Medical Center (Chief) as well as being Owner and President of Oregon Medical Research Center (OMRC) from 2013-2022. Dr. Blauvelt has published over 475 papers and spoken across the country and world on scientific and clinical aspects of inflammatory skin diseases. Within psoriasis immunology research, his laboratory published key papers on the role of IL-23/Th17 biology in this disease. In recent years, he was the international lead/senior investigator on numerous important clinical trials, including PSTELLAR, FEATURE, CLEAR, IXORA-R, VOYAGE 1, ECLIPSE, IMMhance, BE ABLE 1, BE ABLE 2, BE READY, BE RADIANT, OASIS-1, POETYK PSO-1, ONWARD 1 and 2, CHRONOS, ECZTEND, JADE REGIMEN, HEADS UP, ADhere, and KNOCKOUT. He is also an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the International Psoriasis Council, and the International Eczema Council. In 2023, he became Chair of the Medical Board for the National Psoriasis Foundation, an organization he has worked closely with for over 25 years in a variety of capacities.
