Ahmad Yatim
Ahmad Yatim, MD, PhD, is an Instructor in the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense and the Department of Dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He received his medical and scientific training in Paris, France, completed his dermatology residency at Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland, and conducted postdoctoral research with Dr. Jean-Laurent Casanova at The Rockefeller University in New York.
His research employs tools of human genetics to understand fundamental mechanisms of skin immunity. He studies rare inborn errors of immunity and common genetic susceptibilities to skin infection, inflammation, and cancer to identify genes and pathways governing cutaneous host defense, cancer immunosurveillance, and immune homeostasis. He seeks to translate genetic discoveries into mechanistic insights, biomarkers, and new therapeutic strategies for skin diseases.
