Maja Thiele, M.D. Ph.D.

I work to reduce morbidity and mortality from steatotic liver disease related to alcohol and metabolic dysfunction. I have pioneered the development, validation and implementation of imaging and blood-based tools for early detection and risk stratification of steatotic liver disease, including cost-effective referral pathways and omics technologies. Contributor to clinical practice guidelines from EASL, AASLD, EFSUMB and WFUMB, member of the BAVENO research committee and EASL governing board. Holds leadership positions in several multi-European research consortia exploring how biomarkers can improve liver disease management.
