Jennifer Myers, MAT, PhD
Jennifer Myers in an instructional design specialist in the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education at UT Southwestern. She uses an interdisciplinary approach for instructional design that combines cognitive science, data science, and educational psychology. Recent projects have involved employee/industry training for medical staff and scientists, as well as training and coaching in health and wellness. She received a Ph.D. from the University of Houston in Cell and Molecular Biology with a focus on the neurobiology of learning and memory. Jennifer has a Master's in Teaching from Tufts University and has worked professionally in molecular and cellular biology at Dartmouth Medical School, Tufts Medical School, and Boston University Medical Center. Jennifer has teaching and instructional design experience with secondary school biology and undergraduate level biology, genetics, and biotechnology. At Texas A&M University Jennifer studied the interaction of play and learning, especially as it applies to science education. Digital games and augmented reality technologies are of particular interest because of the ways that games promote whole system thinking, problem-solving strategies, and allow for embedded and authentic assessment.
