Andrew Koh, MD
Dr. Andrew Y. Koh is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Microbiology and Director of the Cellular ImmunoTherapeutics Program at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and Children’s Medical Center Dallas. He received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Harvard College. He was then awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and studied English Literature at Pembroke College, Oxford University. Dr. Koh obtained his MD degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed internship, residency, and chief residency at Children’s Hospital, Boston. He then completed a dual fellowship in hematology/oncology and infectious diseases at Children’s Hospital, Boston, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
The Koh Lab focuses on understanding how the gut microbiome modulates the host immune response in cancer and stem cell transplant patients – specifically focusing on bacterial/fungal infections originating from the gut, graft-versus-host disease, and host anti-tumor response. Research is funded by the NIH (NIAID and NCI), industry and foundations. Dr. Koh has published his gut microbiome research in high-impact journals such as Nature Medicine, PLoS Pathogens, Nature and Biology of Blood and Marrow Transplantation.
