Sidra Goldman-Mellor, Ph.D., M.P.H.

Sidra Goldman-Mellor is an Associate Professor of Public Health at the University of California, Merced. Her research focuses on the social, clinical, and economic determinants and outcomes of suicidal behavior, substance abuse, and other mental health problems across the life course, including among pregnant and postpartum people. Much of her current work uses “big data” on emergency department patients. Her currently funded research includes “Pregnancy-associated mortality and morbidity due to drugs, self-harm, and violence in the United States” (R01HD102319). Dr. Goldman-Mellor earned her B.A. from Cornell University and her M.P.H. and Ph.D. (in epidemiology) from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed an NICHD-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Duke University.
