Toi Harris, M.D.

Toi B. Harris, MD, is Senior Vice President and Chief Health Access and Engagement Officer at Memorial Hermann Health System. In this role, Dr. Harris builds on Memorial Hermann’s existing initiatives by identifying and championing opportunities to further efforts to improve health care outcomes, patient experience, and employee experience across populations. She collaborates with leaders to advance the organization’s mission and vision.
Dr. Harris has practiced psychiatry for over 25 years and is double board-certified in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Harris joined Memorial Hermann in 2022 after 17 years at Baylor College of Medicine. Currently, she is a Professor at UT Health Houston, a consultation and liaison psychiatrist at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital, and a Clinical Professor at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Harris is actively engaged with regional and national professional organizations including the Texas Medical Association, where she serves as Physician Health and Wellness Committee’s Chair, and the Association of American Medical Colleges, where she has served in several capacities including as Chair of the Group on Women in Medicine and Science (GWIMS), Chair of the Faculty Workgroup for the Advancing Holistic Principles Advisory Committee (AHPAC), on the Advisory Committee for the Foundational Principles of Inclusion Excellence, Group on Student Affairs (GSA) Professional Development Initiative Advisory Committee, and as former lead of the Women of Color Intersectionality Initiative, and as a Center for Health Justice CHARGE Ambassador. Additionally, she is the Industry Champion for the Greater Houston Partnership, Co-Chair for the Leadership Institute’s Forum. She serves on the Texana Center’s Board of Directors, Mental Health America of Greater Houston’s Board of Directors, and Vizient’s Equity Steering Committee.
In 2018, she was selected to participate in the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women at Drexel University College of Medicine Fellowship and serves as an ELAM Learning Community Advisor.
