Christian Hendershot
Dr. Hendershot is a Professor in the Departments of Population and Public Health Sciences and Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He also serves as Director of Clinical Research at the USC Institute for Addiction Science. His research program utilizes clinical, cognitive, neuroscience and psychopharmacology methods to study substance use behaviors and candidate treatments for substance use disorder. His recent projects have included Phase 2 randomized clinical trials to evaluate GLP-1 receptor agonists as treatments for alcohol use disorder and tobacco use disorder. Based on data from these studies, Dr. Hendershot and his colleagues are now carrying out multi-site clinical trials of GLP-1 medications for alcohol use disorder and smoking cessation.
