Ahmad Kheirkhah, MD
Ahmad Kheirkhah, MD, completed fellowships in Cornea and Ocular Surface Diseases. From 2008 to 2011, he served as Director of the Ocular Surface Clinic at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He later joined Harvard Medical School as an Instructor from 2013 to 2017. In 2018, he joined UTHealth San Antonio, where he served as Director of the Cornea Service and Medical Director of the UT Eye Consultants. Since 2023, he has been an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Kheirkhah has extensive clinical and surgical expertise in corneal and ocular surface diseases, including limbal stem cell transplantation, ocular surface reconstruction, high-risk keratoplasty, keratoprosthesis, dry eye disease, ocular burns, and conjunctival cicatricial disorders. Moreover, he has considerable experience in cornea and ocular surface imaging, including In Vivo Confocal Microscopy. Dr. Kheirkhah has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and has delivered over 200 national and international presentations. He also serves as a moderator for multiple instruction courses on ocular surface disease at the AAO and the ASCRS. Dr. Kheirkhah is a member of the Editorial Board of The Ocular Surface. He holds several patents and has received numerous honors, including Teaching Awards from the residents and the Achievement Award from the AAO.
