Dr. Niedermeier is a proficient researcher and has contributed to numerous publications and podium presentations in the field of hand and upper extremity surgery. He was recently inducted into the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Society of Surgery of the Hand, American Association for Hand Surgery, and American Society for Peripheral Nerve in 2023 and 2024, which are some the world’s most prestigious orthopedic and upper extremity surgical societies. Dr. Niedermeier continues to lecture and educate the upper extremity surgery community each year through various speaking engagements. All this experience allows him to use evidence-based medicine and employ a myriad of techniques with the goal of getting his patients back to the activities and lives they love. He is committed to the collaborative effort of surgical and non-surgical care of all upper extremity disorders.
Dr. Niedermeier was born in New Haven, Connecticut, before moving to and being raised just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. He majored in biology while playing baseball at Ohio State University. His medical degree was obtained from the Ohio State University College of Medicine at the world-renowned Wexner Medical Center where he also completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Niedermeier completed his fellowship training, specializing in hand/wrist, elbow, shoulder, and peripheral nerve surgery, at the OrthoCarolina Hand Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. There he worked closely with leaders in the field including Drs. Glenn Gaston, Bryan Loeffler, Chris Chadderdon, Dan Lewis and Ryan Garcia.
Dr. Niedermeier’s path to medicine started when he was five years old when he was misdiagnosed with a blood disorder. After a year of improper treatment, he was correctly diagnosed with an autoimmune condition and underwent successful treatment and surgery. The physicians caring for him and his family were incredibly kind, compassionate, and benevolent inspiring Dr. Niedermeier to pursue a career in medicine. Then in high school, Dr Niedermeier strained the ulnar collateral ligament of his elbow (more commonly known as the Tommy John ligament) while pitching during the final baseball game of his junior year. Through many months of treatment and physiotherapy, his orthopedic treatment team was able to get him back on the field for collegiate competition. It was this team that gave Dr. Niedermeier the inspiration and ambition to pursue orthopedic surgery with a special concentration in traumatic and sports-related conditions of the elbow. Dr. Niedermeier joined TMI Sports Medicine and Orthopedics in 2024 treating conditions of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder, while focusing on injuries and treatments in the overhead throwing athlete while under the mentorship and tutelage of Keith Meister MD.
Dr. Niedermeier is an orthopedic and upper extremity consultant for the Texas Rangers Baseball and Dallas Stars Hockey Clubs. He has been voted as a Best/Top Doctor in Hand Surgery by the Fort Worth, Southlake Style, Tops in Tarrant Magazines every year since moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area in 2021.
Dr. Niedermeier currently holds hospital appointments at Trinity Park Surgical Center and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.
Dr Niedermeier is married and has two children. He spends his free time with his family and enjoys golf, cycling, sporting events, working out, and traveling.
