Biography:
Alexandra (Alex) K. Callan, M.D. is Associate Professor in the Orthopaedic Surgery Department and has been growing the Orthopaedic Oncology Program. Additionally, she now serves as the Orthopaedic Residency Program Director. While born in Denver, Colorado – she calls The Woodlands, Texas home. She graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor’s of Science degree and a love for Irish Football! Following college, she joined the Teach For America Corps to teach high school science and coach volleyball, basketball, and softball for three years. Subsequently, she attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine where she found a passion for surgery. Alex complete her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and Orthopaedic Oncology Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. As Alex builds her clinical practice, she is excited to teach residents and medical students and explore Dallas. She enjoys wake surfing, live music, snowboarding, travel, and adventure!
At UTSW, she is collecting patients and data for a prospective orthopaedic oncology database. She continues to build collaborative relationships with the pediatric oncologists, the musculoskeletal radiologists, and the radiation oncologists at UT Southwestern.
