Princy Ghera, MD

I began my medical career in India, where I attended medical school. Following that, I completed a 4-year Internal Medicine-Pediatric residency at Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin, and a 3-year Pediatric Pulmonary training at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Currently, I hold the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern. I am triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Pulmonology.
With a background in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, I have developed a strong interest in treating teenage and adult patients with Cystic Fibrosis, neuromuscular disorders, and technology dependence. At Children's Medical Center/UTSW-Dallas, I serve as a core Pulmonologist for Neuromuscular Disorders and Aerodigestive multidisciplinary clinics. Additionally, I am involved in establishing a transition clinic for Neuromuscular patients in collaboration with Parkland Clinic and Hospital. I am passionate about promoting health equity and Diversity and Inclusion. As part of my commitment, I am a member of the American Thoracic Society Pediatric Assembly Working Group on Diversity and Inclusion, as well as a subcommittee member of UTSW Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee focused on Faculty Retention.
Teaching students, residents, and fellows has been instrumental in my growth as a physician. I strongly believe in a "Hands-on Medicine" approach and encourage my learners to adopt the same philosophy. Effective history taking and physical examination play a crucial role in medical diagnosis, and I emphasize this to my students and colleagues. The positive feedback and evaluations I receive from them reflect the benefits of this methodology.
I have presented at various national and international conferences and have published case reports. While I have worked on diverse projects, my interests lie more in the realm of academic clinical practice than basic science research. In the future, I aspire to contribute to clinical research, quality improvement projects, and similar endeavors.
Despite a busy schedule, I make an effort to engage in international medical initiatives aimed at serving underprivileged communities. Whether it is providing clinics in remote areas of El Salvador, working in a tertiary care center in Northern India, or teaching medical providers in Jamaica, each experience has been rewarding. These endeavors are my way of giving back to society and addressing disparities in healthcare.
Growing up as an army brat, I learned valuable lessons from my parents about embracing life's challenges while also finding joy along the way. I carry forward this philosophy and intend to continue doing so in the future. "One world for Humanity" has become my motto, and I hope to inspire those around me to not only recognize it but also apply it in their daily lives.
