Stuart Yablon
Dr. Stuart A. Yablon is the Director for the Brain Injury Program at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, and is a Clinical Professor with the Division of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He is board certified in Brain Injury Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his residency training with the Department of PM&R at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey School of Medicine (now Rutgers New Jersey Medical School), where he served as Academic Chief Resident. He then completed a two-year Rehabilitation Research Center Development Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and the Brain Injury Program at The Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, Texas, specializing in Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
Dr. Yablon has more than 34 years of experience as a clinician, investigator, and educator in brain injury medicine. Dr. Yablon was an invited participant in the Aspen Neurobehavioral Conference Workgroup, which proposed the diagnostic criteria for the minimally conscious state. He is a co-author of the 2018 Comprehensive Systematic Review and Practice Guideline Update regarding care for patients with disorders of consciousness, jointly published in the journals Neurology and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has also served as Project Medical Director of the NIDRR Traumatic Brain Injury Model System of Mississippi from 1998-2007. He has served as a principal or senior investigator on studies involving neuromedical sequelae of acquired brain injury, most notably spasticity and related motor disorders. Dr. Yablon is an author of 85 peer-reviewed articles that have been published or in-press in scientific journals. He has also given numerous invited presentations at North American and international medical conferences.
