Dr. Ana M. Franceschi serves as Director of Dementia Imaging and Director of Molecular Neuroimaging at Northwell Health, and she is an Associate Professor of Radiology at the Barbara and Donald Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. A leading expert in neurological molecular imaging, her research centers on hybrid imaging techniques such as PET/MRI, with a special emphasis on dementia and neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Franceschi was awarded the 2021 Foundation of the ASNR Boerger Research Fund for Alzheimer’s Disease and Neurocognitive Disorders for her study using the novel tracer [18F] PI-2620 to map tau accumulation in primary progressive aphasia. She also leads a project evaluating PI-2620 as a universal biomarker for dementia classification, with the goal of improving diagnosis, patient selection, and treatment monitoring in clinical trials. She is the lead editor of Hybrid PET/MR Neuroimaging: A Comprehensive Approach (Springer Nature, 2022 and 2026) and has published extensively in the field. Dr. Franceschi also holds numerous leadership positions, including Senior Editor for the Molecular Imaging section of the American Journal of Neuroradiology, Chair of the ACR Dementia Committee, Chair of the ACR Neuroradiology Research Committee, member of the Board of Directors of the Brain Imaging Council of the SNMMI, and a leader within the ASNR Alzheimer, ARIA, and Dementia Study Group. She additionally contributes to the editorial boards of AJNR and WJNM.
