Amy M. Fowler, MD, PhD
Associate Professor of Radiology
Amy M. Fowler, M.D., Ph.D., is a tenured Associate Professor of Radiology in the Section of Breast Imaging and Intervention at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She holds an affiliate appointment in the Department of Medical Physics.
Dr. Fowler received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2005 and her M.D. degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 2007. She completed residency training on the research track in Diagnostic Radiology in 2012 and Breast Imaging clinical fellowship in 2013 at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University in St. Louis. She joined the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health as faculty in 2013. She is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging (FSBI).
Dr. Fowler serves as Chair for the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Breast Cancer Imaging Outreach Committee, Vice Chair of the NRG Oncology Imaging Committee, and as a Breast Expert Panel Member for the American Joint Committee on Cancer.
Dr. Fowler’s research program is focused on molecular imaging biomarkers to assess early therapeutic response for breast cancer in preclinical and translational clinical studies. She is Junior Co-Chair for the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group/American College of Radiology Imaging Network Cancer Research Group Protocol EAI142 “[18F] Fluoroestradiol PET as a Predictive Measure for Endocrine Therapy in Patients with Newly Diagnosed Metastatic Breast Cancer”. Dr. Fowler is also the principal investigator for research on simultaneous breast PET/MRI using targeted radiopharmaceuticals for estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor in patients with newly diagnosed breast cancer.
