Els Fieremans, Ph.D.

Els Fieremans, Ph.D., is a tenured Associate Professor and co-director of the MRI Biophysics group at the Center for Biomedical Imaging, Department of Radiology, New York University Grossman School of Medicine. She holds an affiliate appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, New York University Tandon School of Engineering. She received her master’s degree in physics and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Ghent University, Belgium. The goal of her research is to leverage quantitative MRI towards specificity on the cellular scale, through biophysical modeling and validation using numerical and physical phantoms, in order to find the earliest and most sensitive markers of brain disease.
