Sashank Reddy is the Paul Manson/Hansjorg Wyss Associate Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins with secondary appointment in Biomedical Engineering. He is also Associate Director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for NanoBioTechnology and Senior Medical Director of Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures. Dr. Reddy received his undergraduate degree with University Honors from Johns Hopkins where he studied Biology and Humanistic Studies as one of the University’s Beneficial Hodson Scholars. He then pursued MD and PhD studies at Harvard Medical School under the auspices of the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program. Dr. Reddy’s thesis work on post-translational control of the cell cycle was accomplished in the laboratory of Marc Kirschner, Enders University Professor at Harvard. Dr. Reddy completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Craniofacial Surgery at Johns Hopkins and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Reddy’s research efforts center on mechanisms governing aging and regeneration in mouse models. His discoveries have been published in leading journals including Nature, Cell, Cell Stem Cell, Science Translational Medicine, and Science Advances. Dr. Reddy is also an accomplished entrepreneur and biomedical innovator. Earlier in his career he was at Third Rock Ventures where he served as a member of the founding team at Eleven Biotherapeutics. He is currently founder of LifeSprout, Inc., a clinical stage company developing novel products for tissue regeneration and cell delivery. In his role as Senior Medical Director of Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), Dr. Reddy advises faculty and University administration on enhancing the impact of discoveries through new company creation and corporate partnerships.
