Shanup Dalal is a Texan born and raised. He grew up in Houston, Texas and pursued undergraduate studies in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He became interested in medicine during his studies and was accepted to the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where he was inducted into the AOA and Gold Humanism Honor Society. He remained at this institution in order to be a part of the inaugural Internal Medicine - Pediatrics class, in which he was a chief resident for two years. He stayed on as faculty as a hospitalist at Parkland hospital during the COVID pandemic. During his time there, he became interested in palliative care and is currently in fellowship at UT Southwestern for Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
