Seung Kim, MD, MBA

I was born in Seoul, South Korea, and graduated in 1995 from Kyung-Hee University School of Medicine, Seoul, South Korea. After an internship, I completed a residency in diagnostic radiology in 2000 at the Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Seoul, Korea. Subsequently, I completed an abdominal imaging fellowship in 2002 at the Samsung Medical Center. From August 2002, I worked as a clinical faculty member (instructor and assistant professor) in abdominal imaging and interventional radiology at the Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine in Seoul. After that, from July 2007 to June 2008, I completed a clinical fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. From July 2008 to today, I have worked as an assistant professor in the division of Interventional Radiology, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Washington University in St Louis School of Medicine. In July 2017, I was promoted to Associate Professor of Radiology. I have completed the healthcare management executive MBA program at The University of Texas at Dallas. From September 2023, I have worked as a professor and director of interventional oncology in the division of Interventional Radiology, UT Southwestern Medical center.
I have 21 years of experience in interventional radiology, with five years in South Korea and 16 years in the US. My primary clinical areas of interest are TACE, Y90, ablation of liver, lung, kidney tumors, lymphangiogram, dialysis intervention, and portal hypertension (TIPS/BRTO). Because of my work, I have received several awards from KSR, CIRSE, and RSNA. During this time, I have also published 49 papers in international peer-reviewed journals on radiologic research, given lectures at several meetings, including SIR, GEST, SGI, and IICIR, and served as a reviewer of several radiology journals.
