Seung Duk Lee, MD, PhD

Seung Duk Lee, MD, PhD is the Surgical Director of Liver Transplantation and an Associate Professor of Surgery at the Hume-Lee Transplant Center, Virginia Commonwealth University. He is an internationally recognized transplant surgeon with a particular focus on advancing robotic and minimally invasive approaches in liver transplantation. Dr. Lee has led the development and clinical implementation of robotic living donor and recipient hepatectomy programs and has played a key role in establishing novel robotic workflows for complex transplant procedures. His work has contributed to expanding the boundaries of surgical precision, donor safety, and recovery in liver transplantation. In parallel with his academic leadership, he serves as the CEO of Photona Medical, where he is actively involved in translational innovation integrating surgery, robotics, and emerging technologies.
