Shibani Mukerji, M.D., PhD.
Shibani Mukerji is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and the Associate Director of the Neurology Infectious Diseases Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Dr. Mukerji brings a clinical focus on improving neurological outcomes, enhancing quality treatment, and reducing costs for people with HIV. She is the PI for the SOOTHE study, a NIMH-funded randomized Phase II trial in people living with HIV and depression, and co-PI for the observational study characterizing the HIV-1 reservoir in the central nervous system. After completing her M.D./Ph.D. at Case Western Reserve University in 2010, Dr. Mukerji pursued her neurology residency and specialized fellowship in neuro-infectious diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She clinically cares for individuals with neurological complications related to HIV and other infectious diseases in the Neurology Department and Infectious Diseases divisions. Dr. Mukerji serves on the NIMH International Working Group tasked with updating neurological definitions for cognitive disorders in HIV. She is the recipient of the Claflin Distinguished Scholar Award and has received support from the NIMH, NIA, Rappaport Foundation, the James S. McDonnell Foundation and the Harvard University Center for AIDS Research.
