Olufunke Awosogba, PhD
Dr. Olufunke Awosogba is a licensed psychologist in the State of Texas, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center, and the Director of the Behavioral Health Program in the Hematology and Oncology Outpatient Clinic at Parkland Hospital. Dr. Awosogba earned her master's and doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin with clinical training in health psychology at the Veteran Affairs Medical Centers in Memphis, TN and Houston, TX, specializing in mental health integration in medical settings. Her clinical focus is on helping adults with chronic medical conditions achieve optimal psychological well-being and better quality of life. She is also passionate about increasing mental health literacy and reducing mental health stigma among Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Dr. Awosogba has been invited to speak on constructs of race and cultural adaptation and their impact on mental health, behavioral health program development, and coping with cancer to healthcare providers, mental health professionals, and the general public.
