Lih Chyun Su, Joseph Su, PhD, MPH
Dr. Joseph Su is a Professor in Epidemiology and the Inaugural Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the UTSW Peter O'Donnell Jr. School of Public Health. His career experiences include research and teaching at medical centers and administrative leadership at the NIH and FDA. He was a Program Director at the Modifiable Risk Factor Branch at the National Cancer Institute, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences Epidemiology and Genomic Research Program. He was later promoted to Branch Chief at the FDA Center for Medical Devices and Radiological Health Division of Epidemiology. His branch oversaw the post-approval studies of all Class III cardiovascular and Neurological devices and in vitro diagnostic devices. In his academic research, Dr. Su is an expert in nutritional and environmental epidemiology with a focus on their association with cancer and other chronic diseases. He is also specialized in biomarkers for dietary intakes and environmental exposures, as well as early markers for cancer. He integrates the use of metabolomics, epigenomics, metallomics, and genomic in his research studies. He is also experienced in population-based biospecimen collection and repositories.
