Dr. Tolkachjov is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained and board certified Mohs micrographic & reconstructive surgeon with interests in skin cancers, Mohs surgery & complex facial reconstruction. He’s a clinical assistant professor at UT Southwestern, clinical associate professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine, core faculty on the Baylor University Medical Center Division of Dermatology, and is the Dallas area Director of Mohs Micrographic & Reconstructive Surgery for Epiphany Dermatology and has performed over 18,000 cases.

He graduated from Emory University followed by the University of Tennessee College of Medicine at the top of his class. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, followed by a formal Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology fellowship at the Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, Alabama, where he also practiced for the first few years of his career prior to coming to Dallas.

His teaching and research have facilitated over 135 publications in major medical journals in major medical journals such as the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Mayo Clinic Proceedings, Dermatologic Surgery, International Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, and Pediatric Dermatology, among others. He is a reviewer and sits on the Editorial Boards for several journals. He also guides aspiring authors as a mentor in the JAAD Editorial Mentorship Program.

He has contributed chapters to several books and is currently co-authoring 2 textbooks on Mohs surgery and complex facial reconstructive techniques, which includes a distinguished international panel of contributing authors. He has also been a contributor to the Dialogues in Dermatology podcasts, educating the audience on complex reconstructive techniques after Mohs surgery. He has edited 2 editions of Dermatologic Clinics.

He is an active member or fellow of medical and surgical societies and has held committee positions on the ACMS, ASDS, and the AAD, among others. Some of these have included the Mohs Surgery Appropriate Use Criteria (AUC) Committee, ACMS Public Relations and Communications Committee on which he was the Chair, AAD Mohs Micrographic Surgery Committee, AAD World Congress Review Task Force, ASDS Professional Conduct Committee, ASDS Social Media Work Group, and is the President of the Dallas Dermatological Society.
