Dr. Segovia finished Medical School in Lima, Peru in 2001 and soon after came to Detroit to complete her Internal Medicine Residency at Henry Ford Hospital, followed by Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at the University of Nebraska in Omaha and then back to Henry Ford for her Gastroenterology Fellowship. She stayed as a faculty member for 5 years before moving to North Carolina in 2016 to join Duke University.
Within the transplant field, she has a special interest in rehabilitation of patients with intestinal failure as well as bowel transplant. She has been invited to give talks on this topic in national and international meetings.
She serves as the Medical Director of the Intestine Transplant Program at Duke University Hospital as well as the Chair of the Liver Intestine Community of Practice (LICOP) of AST (American Society of Transplantation).
