EM1603G "Psoriatic Arthritis: Past, Present, and Future" (IM-GR030416)

To provide an update on Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) through discussion of evolving concepts in this disease. At the end of this lecture the attendees will understand the historical perspective of the disease, recognize evolving concepts in disease definition, prevalence/incidence, early diagnosis, comorbidities and treatment, and the evolution of disease specific composite assessment instruments and new approaches to management.

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Recognize the historical perspective of PsA
  • Understand evolving concepts of PsA which are: Disease definition, Prevalence/incidence, Early diagnosis, Comorbidities, and Treatment
  • Discuss Future projections of new outcome measures (Composite indices and Minimal Disease Activity)
  • Discuss Future projections of new therapeutic approaches (Treat-To-Target)
