This presentation is focused on the role of hereditary risk factors in the development of breast cancer and provides insight into proposed mechanisms of carcinogenesis involved in mutational syndromes and current approaches to diagnosis and care.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Recognize the increased integration of clinical genetics in the evaluation and care of the breast cancer patient.
- Describe syndromes associated with increased risk for breast cancer and other organ malignancies.
- Understand available risk assessment tools and commercially available tests for gene testing.
- Discuss clinical management of patients with a risk mutation.
