EM1812F "The Second Victim" (IM GR-120718)

Second Victims are healthcare providers who are involved in stressful events including adverse events involving patients who are also traumatized with negative effects on their psyche and job performance. This presentation will describe Second Victims in a broad sense then focus on them from a healthcare perspective. Risk factors, prevalence, harms, and institutional responses will be discussed.
