EM2105E "Vaccine Hesitancy" (IM GR-210521)

The origins of vaccine hesitancy date back to the development of vaccines in the 1700s. Since that time, anti-vaccination sentiment has gained steam, particularly in recent years due to easy spread of disinformation on the internet. Vaccine hesitancy was labelled a top 10 threat to global health according to the WHO in 2019, and since 2020, it is now threatening the development of herd immunity during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are strategies to mitigate vaccine hesitancy that can be implemented when discussing vaccines with patients and with our communities.
