EM2109C "Out-of-Office BP Monitoring in Hypertension: Where we are and Where we are" (IM GR-091021)
The purpose of this lecture is to review methods of noninvasive blood pressure measurement and guidelines related to best practices, to determine clinical implication of out-of-office blood pressure measurement, and to identify challenges in incorporating out-of-office blood pressure monitoring in routine care.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Identify source of reliable home BP monitors that are validated
- Identify correct method of BP measurement at home or in the office
- Identify indication for measurement of ambulatory BP monitoring
