Purpose and Overview

To educate the clinician on the most recent data regarding prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diverticulitis. To discuss the risk factors and manifestations of diverticular disease.

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Diagnose and treat acute diverticulitis based on the most updated guidelines.
  • Understand risk factors for developing recurrent diverticulitis.
  • Understand the risks and benefits of elective surgery in the treatment of diverticulitis.
