Purpose and Overview
This talk will explore the challenges faced, opportunities realized, and lessons learned during the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics will include a discussion of both pharmaceutical and behavioral interventions used to encourage vaccine acceptance and uptake, how digital communication campaigns can impact global audiences, and an assessment of the practical, ethical, and epidemiological considerations that go into an effective, evidence-based pandemic response strategy.
Target Audience
UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- Recognize and critically assess the need for behavior change interventions to drive vaccine acceptance and uptake during the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Synthesize appropriate strategies to address global health crises - whether digital communication campaigns or novel surveillance techniques - that draw upon the collaborative efforts of health promoters.
- Evaluate the impact of non-pharmaceutical initiatives to develop evidence-based, ethical, and effective health communication and interventions.
