Purpose and Overview

Acute Kidney Injury is a major cause of morbidity and morality in hospitalized patients. New developments in the field will be presented that will help physicians and general public to be aware of these discoveries that will hopefully improve outcomes in patients with acute kidney injury

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • To define the epidemiology and health care burden of acute kidney injury
  • To identify the major pathogenic pathways involved in acute kidney injury
  • To define treatment strategies in the management of acute kidney injury
