Purpose and Overview

Dr Li will provide a personal account of learnings from his successful career spanning academia and the biopharmaceutical industry. 

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Appreciate the challenges and opportunities of drug discovery and development 
  • Recognize how lessons learned from a career in basic research informed the decision to proceed with development of a first-in-class activin signaling inhibitor for the treatment of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
  • Know how innovations in medicinal and process chemistry were used to develop an investigational orally bioavailable PCSK9 inhibitor.
