Purpose and Overview

Kidney Diseases are a major public health problem, and historically safe and effective have been lacking. This lecture will describe recent advances in technologies elucidating mechanisms involving kidney diseases and recent therapeutic advances. 

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Describe the extent to which kidney diseases are a public health problem.
  • Understand the concept of "kidney precision medicine"
  • Describe how information from kidney biopsies, kidney organoids, and kidney on a chip assay can lead to new treatments.
