EM2607D “PCSK9i and 2026 AHA Dyslipidemia Guidelines: Lower LDL is Better” (IM GR-071726)

Purpose and Overview

PCSK9i are the most potent medications to lower LDL, are underused, and need to be used more often for appropriate patients. 
New 2026 AHA Dyslipidemia Guidelines have new more aggressive LDL goals-need more potent medications and combinations to get to the new LDL goals to prevent CVD. 

Target Audience

UT Southwestern faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, community physicians, nurse clinicians, physician assistants and nurses.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • New AHA 2026 LDL Goals are < 55, 70, 100
  • PCSK9i are the most potent medications-lower LDL 50-60%
  • Use new AHA Prevent ASCVD risk score to calculate 10/30 yr CV risk
