Abstract: This Grand Rounds will examine how emerging neurotechnologies are reshaping the evaluation, ethics, and care of patients with disorders of consciousness after severe brain injury. Beginning with the evolving nosology of patients with disorders of consciousness and the limits of bedside behavioral assessment, the talk will explore how neuroimaging and electrophysiologic techniques may reveal covert consciousness while introducing new ethical and epistemological responsibilities for interpretation, communication, and clinical translation.
