Summary and Objectives.

This presentation focusses on multiple ways that surgeons can both decrease the cost of surgical care and increase the quality outcomes of surgical care. It will focus on ways individual surgeons can do this, how departments of surgery can do this, and how entire healthcare systems can do this.

After participating in this presentation surgeons should be able to understand how surgeons and surgical services drive the revenue and cost of healthcare and what they can do to lower the cost of healthcare to individual patients and to our healthcare system while increasing the quality of outcomes.

Surgeons will understand the value of reliable data at the point of healthcare delivery and how it can and will drive surgeon decision making.

Surgeons and administration will understand how important surgical care is to the mission of any hospital or heath care system.
