Purpose and Content:

The purpose of the presentation is to introduce the history of the Global Burden of Surgical Disease, and to understand the important contributions of surgery and safe anesthesia to Global Health, especially within low and middle-income countries. 

 

Educational Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

 a. Recognize the Global Burden of Surgical Disease as a subset of the Global Burden of Disease

b. Define the Global Surgery and Anesthesia Crises

                c.  Discuss solutions to these crises, and comprehend the next steps within the Global Surgery Agenda
