Jeff Waugh, MD, PhD
Dr. Waugh completed medical and graduate schools at UT Southwestern, and stayed in Dallas for his residency in Pediatrics. He completed a second residency, in Pediatric Neurology, at Boston Children's Hospital and went on to a pioneer a pediatric movement disorders fellowship, the first of it's kind within the Harvard University system. After completing his training, he founded the Pediatric Movement Disorders and Deep Brain Stimulation Program, with dual practices at Boston Children's Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital. In 2017, Dr. Waugh moved his family and practice back to UT Southwestern. In addition to establishing a Pediatric Movement Disorders program, the first of its kind in Dallas, Dr. Waugh conducts fundamental research on the brain abnormalities that produce the movement disorder dystonia. He uses both neuroimaging and genetic tools to identify the common features that link multiple types of dystonia, as well as searching for new sites for deep brain stimulation.
