What is Joint Providership?

The ACCME defines joint providership as the providership of a CME activity by one or more accredited and one or more non-accredited organizations. ACCME accredited CME providers that plan and present one or more activities with non-ACCME accredited providers are engaging in “joint providership.” The accredited provider must take responsibility for a CME activity when it is presented in cooperation with a non-accredited organization and must use the appropriate accreditation statement.

If I would like to offer a jointly provided activity with the UT Southwestern Office of Continuing Education, how do I get started?

Please send an email with details about your proposed educational activity to: CEOffice@utsouthwestern.edu. A Program coordinator will respond with additional questions and/or a proposed time to meet and discuss your activity to determine whether it is appropriate to move forward to the application phase.

All certified activities require that an application be submitted in our Learning Management System, Ethos, no less than 90 days prior to your activity’s scheduled date. A coordinator from the CE Office will assist you in the application drafting and submission process. Please note that the application review and approval process can take up to 30 days from the date of submission.

Our activity has been approved for Joint Providership, now what?

A coordinator from the UTSW Office of CE will partner with you throughout the development and execution of the activity to ensure ACCME-compliance. The non-accredited provider maintains control of program development, budget, logistics, marketing, revenue generation, on-site management, etc.

Is there a fee for Joint Providership?

The primary UTSW Office of CE service fees are:

  • Certification Fee (based on the amount of credits awarded)
  • Electronic Data Management Fee (based on the size of your audience)
  • Additional fees may apply depending on the overall scope of your activity. These fees can be found in our current Course Director Guidelines and Responsibilities form and will be discussed at the initial planning (pre-application) time period.
